Women's clothing retailer Charming Shoppes Inc. said Monday that it has appointed a new head of human resources.
Fredrick Lamster becomes executive vice president of human resources immediately. He will report directly to CEO Jim Fogarty.
Charming Shoppes, based in Bensalem, Pa., operates stores such as Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug, Cacique and others. At the end of January it had 2,121 stores in 48 states.
Lamster, 56, who has worked in human resources for about three decades, comes to Charming Shoppes from Southpole Inc. He replaces Gale Varma, who left Charming Shoppes in November.
Lamster also has been an executive with the plus-size lingerie chain Cacique, women's clothing company Limited Stores and other companies.
